Michael Litman has the experience and thorough knowledge of immigration law to provide reliable deportation defense for those charged with removable offenses, such as domestic violence, theft, fraud, DUI, or drug possession or distribution.

If you or a family member was arrested, we can act immediately to address your status to prevent removal from the United States or to limit the impact on future ability to re-enter the U.S.

DEPORTATION DEFENSE AND IMMIGRATION COUNSELING

After sitting down with you and explaining your rights, we can help you decide the best course of action for your current situation and future status in America.

  • Voluntary Departure - In certain cases, we may advise clients to agree to leave the United States when there is no other form of relief in immigration court and the immigration judge will not grant anymore continuances on a case. This could also make it easier for a non-citizen to get legal status outside the United States.
  • Cancellation of Removal - This form of relief is available to residents and non-residents. Non-residents must show they have 1) good moral character; 2)10 years of physical presence in the United States; and 3) exceptional and extremely unusual hardship to a United States citizen LPR spouse, parent or child. In some cases, residents can sometimes get a pardon for past criminal convictions

If we succeed in your criminal defense we can then focus on your immigration defense to try to win your freedom to stay in the United States. Our lawyers are skilled in defense at trial or negotiating pleas that will not jeopardize your immigration status.
